Frequently Asked Questions
1. What are the pieces made of?
All of the pieces featured on this site are made of ink jet shrink film, which is a type of plastic that starts out thin and can be run through an ordinary ink-jet printer, and then shrinks and becomes harder and thicker in the oven. Remember the toys from the 80's based on popular cartoons? It's the same principle. The designs are all drawn or painted by Gretchen Diehl, or scanned from fabric patterns and manipulated in Photoshop.

2. How durable is the material? Is it waterproof?
All of the pieces have been coated in a layer of clear spray acrylic to seal the ink and make it water-resistant. These pieces should not smear or smudge in humid conditions, or even if there is water applied directly to them, although I would not suggest wearing them in the shower or getting soaps or chemicals on them.

3. I have sensitive skin. What is the metal content of the findings and chain used?
The silver tone chain on most of the items is a base-metal white chain that I chose to keep the pieces affordable. This chain can be replaced by sterling silver chain at an additional charge of $10.00. Just send me an email along with your order to request this better-quality chain. All of the gold-colored chain is gold-plated base metal and is compatible with sensitive skin. The french hooks of all earrings are all made of surgical steel, and are compatible with sensitive skin.
